If you live in a cluttered home, you likely feel disorganized, frustrated and stressed. Simplicity is beautiful, and everything around you should give you joy. That’s the belief behind a rising movement for decluttering. A popular bestselling book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is about tackling clutter throughout your room so you can live a more fulfilling life. The focus is on getting rid of everything that doesn’t bring you joy. While you might not have time to go through your entire home and declutter, you can start small. Even the smallest movements will have an effect, as you’ll build upon your efforts. Less stuff means less maintenance and more time to focus on what you really love.
Do this 10-minute exercise in decluttering and regain your home:
-Start in the room in which you’re reading this, and look around.
-What do you see?
-Is there anything you can put back into its proper “home”? Start there.
-Next look at your knick knacks, decor, blankets, and everything else around you.
-Is there anything you don’t use? Are there items that bring negative memories?
-Let it go. You can sell it, gift it or donate it, but if you don’t want it, remove it from your home.
-Repeat the process whenever you have a few minutes for each room.
The arts are one of the most important things in our world, and we improve ourselves when we soak in the beauty of music, art, and film, for they let us see the world from the creators’ lens.
This month, the Los Angeles Philharmonic will show three classic and iconic films with a complete orchestra. Presented in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the event begins November 17, and takes place over three days. Each night, attendees will see a film accompanied by a live orchestra playing the scores from the film. The calendar includes Rebel without a Cause (Nov. 17), On the Waterfront (Nov. 18), and Casablanca (Nov 20), with Thursday and Friday shows at 8:00 P.M. and a 2:00 matinee for the Sunday show. You can find more information and buy tickets at the official website for the L.A. Philharmonic. While there, read about the gorgeous modern Walt Disney Concert Hall, which was designed by famed architect Frank Gehry.
Do you want soft, smooth skin? You can pick up an instant clay mask at the supermarket or beauty supply store, or you can make your own. Making your own beauty products is a great way to get beautiful without breaking the bank, and you’ll know exactly what’s going on your skin. You can use two simple ingredients to make a soothing clay mask. You only need two things: clay and yogurt! Take 1 tablespoon of yogurt (plain) and 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay. Mix them together, being careful to use a plastic bowl for the mixture. Spread the mask carefully across your T-zone and everywhere else you need soft, smooth skin. Let it set for no more than 15 minutes, then wash your face thoroughly with a washcloth and warm -- not too hot -- water
Bentonite clay has been mined from the earth, and is a great natural skin treatment. Known for its acne-fighting powers, it’s also helpful for eczema. You can buy it at most natural health stores or vitamin shops and use it in a number of mixtures for your skin.
